(07/03/08) TONIGHT...SCOTT DAVIS QUARTET

The Scott Davis Quartet hits the gazebo from 4 to 7 this evening. Join Scott and his ensemble for an evening of fun and music.

And tomorrow, hear The Big Chips Trio crank it up for the Fourth of July.

We wish you a safe and happy weekend.

(07/01/08) BANDS ON THE 3RD AND 4TH.

Robinhood Marine Center welcomes the Fourth of July holiday weekend with bands on Thursday and Friday evenings.

Kicking off the weekend is the Scott Davis Quartet, a hot, versatile swing/jazz blues band led by one of Maine's most versatile jazz trumpet players. From quiet, tasty jazz in the corner to blowin' the roof off the place, you'll enjoy everything this hard swinging ensemble of seasoned musicians has to play.

On Friday, enjoy the eclectic mix of Earl Bigelow and the Big Chips Trio. Expect light jazz, adult contemporary and the vocals of Nancy Bigelow to sparkle the evening of the Fourth.

Join us this Thursday AND Friday from 4 to 7 for music, music, music.

(06/30/08) Market Boat

Just a reminder that Dave Berry and his Market Boat will be back at the docks beginning July 8. They arrive every Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. and are fully loaded with fresh organic produce, homemade pies, cakes, breads, jellies, dips, fresh cut flowers and more. You won't want to miss him

(06/27/08) SUMMER STARTS TONIGHT

Mel Tukey and the Clam Flat Five opens the RMC 2008 summer season tonight at 4:00 PM at the gazebo (or library if it's raining). Join us this evening and welcome the return of Mel and Summer. Bring a picnic lunch, drop in at the Tavern at Riggs Cove, or make reservations for dinner at the Osprey Restaurant and enjoy the sounds of Dixieland swing and the beauty of Robinhood Marine Center, 2008.

Also, beginning tonight, the fuel dock will be open from 8 am to 8 pm daily through the season. Call for slip or mooring reservations (800 443-3625), or radio for assistance docking your vessel.

(06/12/08) Info on our Wifi

WIFI INSTRUCTIONS

We use a ZyXEL 802.11g wireless hotspot gateway which creates and prints unique user names and passwords for each customer which the dock staff will give you on request. You must activate your account within the week it was printed. You will probably need to reuse the activation form that contains your user name and password so don’t discard it.

The antenna that broadcasts the signal is near the library so the area near the gallery, studio and library is blanketed. There is also a smaller antenna in the accounting office so the lawn, porch and restaurant are covered. The range of the “g” signal can be as far as 300’ which can cover many of the slips, but it has never been our intention to cover all the slips with the signal. There may be hardware “amplifiers” that can help enhance the signal at your slip. I Googled "Wifi" and found the following links:

Link 1

Link 2 (and you can strain broccoli, too)

I don’t suggest or recommend these articles are indeed fact, but I infer from the information on line that it is likely range can be improved. Be sure to check with your computer vendor before you try something like #2 above. If you must have wireless at your slip, consider cell phone data transfer. Check with your cellular carrier for details on that.

The Wifi shares the bandwidth with Robinhood’s T1 and is one of the few high-speed connections on Georgetown. Further expansion of the system is not likely due to high costs and the likelihood that the technology will be quickly outdated.
